This themed pack relates to harvest festival. The pack is divided into Four sections. The topic contains:- Teachers’ Notes PowerPoint Presentations Four lesson plans - Why we celebrate, the harvesting of crops culminating in the harvest festival service and the meaning of the hymn We Plough the Fields And Scatter the good seeds on the land. NOW UPDATED WITH WORKSHEETS - May 2019 The resources are for visual display around the classroom and can also be used as flashcards to teach days and month sequencing. Days of the week display title Days - Monday to Sunday display Months of the Year title Months of the Year display - January to December The four seasons display title The seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn/Fall, Winter Editable Birthday Wall display The birthday wall display is also on a PowerPoint Slide so you can type in your student’s name and print off. Alternatively, you can print off the PDF format and use blu tac or velcro and stick the student’s name on the birthday display. Create a seasons table - for example, in autumn lay out leaves, acorns and a harvest basket. In addition, there are worksheets to go with the displays. Days of the week – 4 worksheets Students cut and glue the days in the correct order. Jumbled days for students to unscramble and then write the days in the correct order. Students then answer the questions on the second part of the worksheet, e.g. What days do we call the weekend? Students read simple sentences that contain days of the week and then cut out and glue the strips in the correct order. Students write own simple sentences about what activity they do after school each day. To differentiate the activity, I have prepared a sheet with just pictures and activities on them which some students can choose and cut out to stick onto their worksheets and use the words to create a simple sentence. Months of the year - 5 worksheets Students cut and glue the months in the correct order. Months of the year poem – You can read aloud the poem to the students and ask them questions on it. It is also on PowerPoint. You could ask them if the months are in the correct order. Which months have 31 days? Which month has 28 days? Work at the table: Students can work together to read the poem and answer the 5 questions. On this worksheet, students trace over months and then list them in the correct order. In the last column they write the number of days in each month. Sorting months worksheet – Students write the months under the correct seasons. The last task is to write the month their birthday is in. Differentiated worksheet – students sort the months by cutting and gluing the months into the correct seasons on the wheel. The Teacher’s Note sets out how you can introduce the topic and suggestions on how to organize the activities and list resources needed. You can organize a carousel system (different workstations) - so each table deals with a different aspect on sound or you can do a whole class lesson on one aspect of sound week by week, ending the term on a sound carousel for assessment. The resource comprises: PowerPoint Presentation – Review Work on sounds and contains background information on how the piano, guitar and wind instruments work and how we hear. This resource is on the theme of minibeasts. The teachers notes explain how each set of loop cards are used and how they are different. It is similar to other loop cards or follow me games but counting minibeasts and revising addition and subtraction. A fun way to practise reading numbers and counting and reviewing addition and subtraction through listening and speaking. Student learn to read ‘I have’ and ‘Who has?’ to start the game. <strong>This resource is about the lost son parable relating to forgiveness. It is for whole school assembly.</strong> It contains: PowerPoint Presentation Teacher’s Guide on how to conduct the assembly Playscript of the Parable Posters for display Cross-curricular to Religious Studies and Citizenship. The theme is ‘forgiveness’ based on The Parable of the Lost Son. Learning Objective: To understand what forgiveness means. Children are asked why we should say ‘sorry’ and understand the meaning of forgiveness and understanding. The children are asked about their own experience of getting hurt and wanting that person to say sorry and what it feels like if they don’t apologize. They are taken through the story and asked questions along the way. I’ve written a playscript based on the story. You may wish to have a group of children act out the story instead of reading it on the slides. There are questions on the slides for children to think about.

This is resource is on the topic of Sikhism. It is an introductory booklet that aims to cover the key features of the Sikh religion including the the K’s. Ideal resource for revision/assessment. It contains a contents page, glossary of terms and texts with sub-headings and questions. The booklet can be ‘dipped’ into as a non-fiction resource depending on what you are teaching. **Topics covered: ** -Guru Nanak - Founder of Sikhism (First Guru) -Guru Gobind Singh - Founder of the Khalsa and the Five Ks (Tenth and last human Guru) -The Meaning of the Five Ks -What happens in a Gurdwara? -Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh holy book) -The Khalsa baptism (Amrit ceremony) -The Langar -Seva -Ik Onkar symbol -The Khanda symbol -The Nisham Sahib (Sikh flag) There are a mixture of direct questions, questions which require inference, multiple choice questions with tick box, labelling and ICT work (finding out more information). (In total 45 questions). Pupils are referred to the pages they need to look at to obtain the answers. Includes Specimen Answer booklet. Learning Objectives: To explore the Sikh religion and to understand it beliefs and practices and the meaning of its symbols. To understand why some Sikhs look similar in their appearance. Desired Outcome: That pupils get a good overview of the Sikh religion.
